The program uses the current Windows user name as the program login name

SYMPTOMS

When the program is opened, the “Login” field is populated with the current Windows user account name.

CAUSE

This issue can occur if any of the following are true:

  • The “Use Windows Login” checkbox is selected on the Login Accounts screen.
  • The “Use Windows Login” checkbox was selected in a prior-year and the system settings were carried forward.

RESOLUTION

Program year 2010 and later:

  1. Log in to the program as a user with administrator rights.
  2. From the top menu, select Setup->Office Setup.
  3. On the Defaults tab, clear the Use Windows Login Name check box.
  4. Click OK to close the Applications Settings window.

Program year 2009 and earlier:

  1. Log in to the program as a user with administrator rights.
  2. From the top menu, select Setup->Office Setup.
  3. Clear the Use Windows Login check box.
  4. Click OK to close the Login Accounts window.
The program is now configured to leave the “Login” field blank when opening.
