How to capture a signature using the Topaz Electronic Signature Pad

To capture an ERO signature, follow these steps:

  1. On the Database menu, click EF Originators.
  2. Double-click the applicable ERO.
  3. Click Capture Signature, use the signature pad to sign and then click Accept.
  4. Click Save.
  5. Click Close.

To capture a preparer signature, follow these steps:

  1. On the Database menu, click Paid Preparers.
  2. Double-click the applicable paid preparer.
  3. Click Capture Signature, use the signature pad to sign and then click Accept.
  4. Click Save.
  5. Click Close.

To capture the taxpayer and spouse signatures, follow these steps:

  1. Open the tax return you want to sign.
  2. If a bank product is being used, click on the Print menu and then click Bank Documents.
  3. Click SignDoc. If the SignDoc button does not appear, follow these steps:
    1. On the Setup menu, click Printer Setup.
    2. Select the Prompt for Tax Return PDF check box.
    3. Click OK.
  4. The program prompts you to for the taxpayer and spouse signatures. Follow the onscreen instructions and click Accept after each signature.
  5. To capture the taxpayer and spouse signatures for the tax return, on the Print menu click Final Tax Return.
  6. Click SignDoc. If the SignDoc button does not appear, follow these steps:
    1. On the Setup menu, click Printer Setup.
    2. Select the Prompt for Tax Return PDF check box.
    3. Click OK.
  7. The program prompts you to for the taxpayer and spouse signatures. Follow the onscreen instructions and click Accept after each signature .
    1. Or click Print menu, click Current From Only while on the 1040 or other Signature Form.
  8. Click the SignDoc button in the Print Current Form dialog box.
